The type of Native American government changed depending on the location

The type of Native American government changed depending on the location. In the Midwest, you could find tribes with small egalitarian governments in which all members had equal say. This was more common amongst nomadic tribes. Among the larger tribes which stayed in one area, the government was a monarchy type system. A chief was selected to see over the protection and advancement of the tribe. An example of this could be the Iroquois Federation, which held a type of king in power. These governments were commonplace among the Native Americans and allowed for the organization of many groups of people. Now, the American government system became better than before.
