In my role as Registered Manager I come into contact with not only the people I support but also many different professionals

In my role as Registered Manager I come into contact with not only the people I support but also many different professionals (health & social workers ect) and families too, I must always treat them fairly, with respect and in a professional manner. In my role I should always be a good role model to the staff in my team. Staff receive training and have an awareness of the legislation that relates to these issues e.g Disability Discrimination Act 1995/2005, Race Relation Act 2000. All staff read Hft’s standards which include guidance on Equality ; Diversity.
Diversity is all about valuing individuals and embracing the fact that we are all unique. We have different personalities, interests and needs. These should always be respected. Inclusion is the way that we are able to incorporate diversity and equality into day to day communications, planning and delivery of person centred services.
